Encouraging an Ownership Mindset

When lawyers think like owners, they don't wait for direction—they anticipate, act, and elevate the entire team. But what does it actually mean to "think like a partner" or "own" a matter, especially in day-to-day legal work? In this roll-up-our-sleeves seminar, we discuss tactics for applying an ownership mindset to common workplace challenges, from managing up to spotting and solving inefficiencies rather than waiting for others. We can also address a separate challenge for leaders: encouraging ownership in others. Senior lawyers will unpack why junior team members hesitate to take ownership and then dive into practical strategies for shifting that dynamic: delegating without micromanaging, tapping into motivation, and coaching associates to solve problems on their own.
